Welcome! If you’re here, you may be interested in learning about Tarot Cards. Be it their origin, their history or their secrets and how they could possibly benefit you today. As an experienced Tarot Card Reader, I intend to pull back the veil and give you a peek behind the curtain, into the mystical world of The Tarot.

Tarot Taboo
There are many misconceptions regarding the magickal art of divination, specifically the curious (or, for some taboo) use of Tarot Cards. For those who are unfamiliar, the Tarot originated in Italy around the 15th century, initially as a game. Not unlike its truly evil cousin, the Ouija Board😉. While that’s a topic for another day, I must stress that the two are not to be confused nor bound together. While both are tools used for “communication”, they are not used in the same way, nor do they yield the same results.
Tarot is a Tool
The Tarot is, at its core, a tool for divining clarity, insight and guidance from a higher source. It allows one to see the bigger picture and, of course, the truth about situations and oneself. While the belief that the cards can predict the future is not false, it is not entirely as simple as that; Tarot cards allow one to tap into the current energies surrounding a particular scenario. Thus, showing you the various paths, possibilities and outcomes that are available to you.
The fact is that energies and possibilities change all the time, based on a variety of factors. So, while some predictions will come to pass, it's important to remember that we still maintain free will and the gift of choice in every given situation. The outcome of any reading and the messages one receives are not set in stone. It's helpful to remember that the interpretation of the cards and the messages received during a reading are based on one’s intentions, personal energy and state of mind at the time of said reading.
5 Ways Tarot Cards Can Help You

1. Tarot and The Truth
As we have established, Tarot Cards are a way to divine and ascertain the truth of a situation so that one can make an informed decision. Whether you are receiving a Tarot Card Reading from someone else, or you are reading the cards for yourself, the Tarot allows you to see deeper than your current circumstance, thinking, or emotions may allow. They also invite one to understand things differently, thereby making informed and conscious choices for one’s highest good.
While the Tarot Cards can be annoyingly accurate when revealing the truth, most of the time they are not telling us things that we aren’t already aware of in some corner of our mind, body or our spirit. Intuitively, we all have the ability to pick up on red flags, but in the moment, we may ignore them and choose to continue down the wrong path regardless. Or we simply think we know better! This is the trick with The Tarot: it is a great tool used to validate what we already know, and in doing so, it can provide the push we need to make some pretty tough, yet necessary changes.
2. Tarot and Interpretation
Before one can receive authentic messages and genuine insight from Tarot Cards, one should be able to correctly interpret them. This skill doesn’t come naturally for everyone, and it can be even more frustrating and challenging when doing readings for yourself. Many people think that Tarot Cards can be learned from a book, and while there are countless books and even courses that can most definitely be beneficial on your Tarot journey; the art of Tarot Reading goes much deeper than any theories you can read, study or memorize.
The truth is, Tarot requires one to remain honest, objective and even detached to a certain degree in their approach and in their delivery. Interpretations can be so easily skewed by one's own perception, views and opinions. Tarot reminds us of the delicate balance between the truth and my truth...
3. Tarot as a Mirror
Tarot is great at showing you things about yourself that you may not be ready to acknowledge or to deal with. Just like when you want to advise a friend about their relationship, direction in life or their job, things may look very clear to you because you are on the outside of that situation. So you can see what your friend may not be willing to face or admit about things. But when it comes to looking at oneself, or our own life and our own choices, things become a bit more difficult, and sometimes they even get scary.
It’s much harder to look in the mirror and try to fix ourselves or change our own circumstances, because this means being objective, discerning and taking accountability. Which is what Tarot essentially provides us with: a mirror, a way to see ourselves from the outside in, especially when pulling cards for yourself. Unfortunately, Tarot is not a quick fix, nor is it a way to magick our problems away... Whether you are willing to face things honestly and do the work is your choice entirely, but Tarot won't show something that isn't there, and it wont stop showing you until you deal with it.

4. Tarot and Intuition
Tarot is a wonderful tool that you can use to strengthen your own intuition. We all have intuitive abilities and these show up for us in various ways. There are some who can see things, others who hear or simply know things, and there are those who feel them. Neither one is better or more superior than the other.
When reading Tarot Cards, different people experience their messages and gain insight in different ways. For some, the cards act as visual aids, and their intuition tells them the rest. For others, they rely on the cards to see the whole picture and relay a detailed and precise message. Some readers tap into the energy of the Tarot cards, while others may hear or see things while they are interpreting them.
This is where you will need to develop your own intuition to gain a deeper connection and understanding of the cards in order to best interpret and utilize them for your own self-discovery and benefit. Connecting with your cards is crucial in understanding them, and as your intuition grows so too will your relationship with them.
5. Tarot and Spirituality
Tarot Cards are often used as an intermediary between an individual and a higher power. They can be a great tool that one can utilize to strengthen their connection to The Divine. Whether this higher power is God, angels, spirit guides, ancestors or even the higher self, Tarot acts as a medium through which, one can receive Divine guidance and direction.
In religious contexts, Tarot is often frowned upon or even seen as evil. Although there are many Readers today who do have religious backgrounds and beliefs, while utilizing Tarot Cards to form a deeper connection with Source. In the beginning of this article, I mentioned that; the messages one receives during a reading are based on one’s intentions, personal energy and state of mind at the time of said reading. This is also true if you are going to a professional Tarot Reader.
As a Reader myself, I can tell you that the most important thing when doing a reading for a client is to be able to step back from your own problems, issues and emotions. Allowing a higher presence to step in. If you aren’t able to do so, your own struggles, thoughts and opinions will bleed into your reading, inevitably tainting the message that comes through.
A Warning: Before we end things off..
Tarot and The Darkness
With that being said, there are naturally readers out there who don’t connect with The Divine or light beings to receive their messages. They prefer to connect with darker energies. This is, of course, evident in the reading results and how the reader or practitioner conducts themselves. Make no mistake; dark beings or negative entities can provide one with insight too. The problem is the cost that comes with working with such energies.

Learning Tarot
When you first start out trying to read Tarot Cards, I highly recommend calling on a higher power that you feel comfortable with in order to protect and guide you through the process. Before beginning each reading, set a safe space for yourself and use spiritual cleansing and protection practices regularly to clear yourself, your space and your decks. It is very easy for readings to be infiltrated and influenced by negative or low-level energies, especially if one is not aware of them. Setting boundaries and clear intention is crucial with most things in life; reading Tarot cards is no different.
