Hi there and welcome to my blog!✨

If you’re here, you may be interested in looking for help in choosing an authentic Medium, Psychic or Tarot Reader. While the final choice is yours alone, I may be able to offer some helpful tips to avoid any bad experiences, scammers and even fears and misconceptions around the topic & practice of The Tarot itself.

Spiritual Charlatans

Maybe you’ve noticed that when Tarot is mentioned, people automatically picture gypsies, and fortune tellers of old times, peddling their skills for a price. They brush it off, or they think it is a practice associated with black magic and demons… (*a topic I will think about doing separately!) While these are often recognized today as naïve and outdated notions and reactions, they do hold some validity, and caution is advised when seeking services from anyone in the spiritual community.

With the sudden growth & popularity of spirituality, it's not always possible to avoid charlatans. Learn how to spot scams and find authentic readers.

Today, specifically since the Covid epidemic, the practice of spirituality, black magick and witchcraft are trending more than ever before. It’s tough to know who’s who and what someone is practicing or what they truly believe behind closed doors, while masquerading under the guise of Fortune Tellers, Mystics, Healers or Tarot Readers…

While most of these practices are certainly not new, they are dangerous. Especially with the help of social media, constantly pushing out dark agendas to anyone with online access and free time. As a Lightworker and Tarot Reader myself, I am testament to the fact that there are genuine and authentic readers out there, actively working in and embodying Divine Light, who unfortunately get a bad rap from all the pretenders. So how does one tell the difference between a real Tarot Reader and a fake one?

Discernment is Key

People in the spiritual community often talk about using one’s discernment and intuition to make important choices. Picking a Tarot Reader, spiritual guide, or mentor should be no different. But what happens when that person preys on your good traits and twists them to reel you in deeper? This is when one’s trusting nature is taken advantage of, and could land them in a lot of trouble.

On the one hand, we have sceptics, but on the other hand, we also have those who are too open and too susceptible to every Psychic, Shaman, Priestess and Spiritual Guru they see online or on social media. This is naturally a vulnerable position to be in, as you could be a victim and not even realize it until it’s too late. Of course, this leads to even more shade thrown over the spiritual community when things go south, and essentially more distrust in finding authentic Lightworkers out there who are available and able to truly help you. So, you see, one extreme is no better than the other… Which is why I want to highlight the use of DISCERNMENT when delving into these practices. Be wary of opening yourself up to just anyone on the road to awakening.

How to Find an Authentic Tarot Card Reader

Below are ten tips for those who are truly seeking genuine Readers, Psychics, Mediums, Healers, Shamans, Herbalists, Priests and other Spiritual or Paranormal Consultants. Be sure to trust any red flags that may arise when dealing with these individuals to avoid being scammed or taken for a ride!

To this day, many readers create a persona & business brand that centers around mystery, magick and dark allure to attract their clients.

10 Essential Tips to Help You Find a REAL Tarot Card Reader

  1. Trust Yourself - First and foremost, you need to be able to trust yourself in these situations. Whether you are giving readings or getting them. If you can’t trust yourself, you can’t trust the messages you are getting, and you won’t have the use of your discernment. Thereby, allowing anyone access to your energy, and trusting anyone who talks a good talk. Not everyone will have the same experience with a Tarot Reader either. While your friend may find someone they rave about, and who was accurate for them, that person may not be any good for you. We are all at different levels on our spiritual journey, meaning that even readers and spiritual professionals can only meet you as far as they have met themselves... So, take your time when picking a reader, to find one that will be helpful to you. Rushing into these decisions creates an energy of desperation, which can then lead to pretty disappointing results.

If you can’t trust yourself, you can’t trust the messages you are getting, and you won’t have the use of your discernment.

  2. Do Your Research - Prepare beforehand, by doing research on the person you are going to for a reading. Whether they are just starting out or well-established, everyone has social media either personally or for business marketing. You may also find they have a YouTube channel, like myself, in which case, watch some of their videos and get a feel for their energy and the way they read the cards. Notice what type of themes their messages convey; are they promoting health and healing? Or simply harping on about the past, while targeting your fears and insecurities? Are they consistent in their messages and their energy? Or is there just one "spiritual growth & guidance" reading for every ten "love readings"...

  3. Ask Questions - Ask the Reader or Practitioner as many questions as you need, to feel comfortable or to understand their process before confirming your booking. An authentic Tarot Reader or Spiritual Consultant won’t have anything to hide.

  4. Free or Anonymous Tarot Readings - Be careful just getting a reading from anyone (especially anonymous FREE readings being offered by the handful on platforms like TikTok and Reddit), you never know the energies that those readers are working with, carrying or tapping into to receive their messages. If they have a channel with collective readings, this should be easy to spot, based on the theme of their readings and the type of messages that come through. The sad truth is, unfortunately, some Psychic Readers do work with dark entities and energies. Both intentionally and unintentionally. (*No disrespect to them and their path, but as a client, you should be aware of this.)

  5. Divine Guidance or Dark Influence? - If it is a concern for you, ask your Reader where they get their information from. Do they work with a higher power? Do they connect with Angels, God or the Holy Spirit? How do they respond when you ask these questions? Their reaction alone can also provide you with the simple answer you need, to follow through with the reading or not.

Many people think Tarot & Jesus don't go together... But His presence and influence are evident in the messages that come through in my readings 💗🕊
  6. Fixation & Obsession - There are many Readers on social media who only focus on the bad stuff. Maybe you have seen some of these readings? Where they only talk about the lover that left you five years ago… or they only have messages about people who are jealous of you? Some of them also have handmade decks which include cards like “gang stalking”, “sex”, “fetishes”, “murder” and other weird things... If that’s something you connect with, then I guess those messages are for you. However, those who identify as Lightworkers generally don’t associate with, or feel the need to connect with or obsess over dark, heavy, or negative energies like that. This is not to imply that bad stuff won’t show up in your reading, but a genuine Tarot Reader will give you helpful solutions to assist you in healing, accepting or releasing those things. So that you can grow and move forward. On that note, I feel it's important to stipulate that genuine Readers won't do readings for you about other people, (such as those who want to know what their ex is up to...) This is because we respect that persons right to privacy and if they're not giving consent and paying for a reading themselves; then naturally, we have no business looking into their lives.

  7. Spiritual Doors - When you get a reading from someone, you are essentially giving them permission to access to your energy. Thus, it’s important to be very sure about who you choose and what their intentions are. Once that door is open, they can essentially tap in whenever they like because you have given them permission. Not all Readers close off the connection after a reading, and if they are working with dark entities, these can affect you long after your reading is done. This same rule applies for viewers who enjoy watching readings on YouTube. Be very careful who you are watching and engaging with online, as this too opens up doors you may not be able to close.

  8. No Pressure - No Reader should tell you that you need to come back for more information or anything like that. It’s your choice when you are called for a reading, and it’s a personal decision, not something to take lightly or just do for fun.

  9. Distance Readings - Tarot readings do not need to be done in person. Of course some people prefer it, and that's up to you. I myself do them remotely, sometimes without ever speaking to the client except via email. Emphasizing what I said before, about granting Readers permission. One of the key elements of a successful Tarot reading, is being able to pick up on and read the client’s energy, whether they are in the room with you or not. It’s not about simply looking at and interpreting pretty pictures on the cards...

  10. The Whole Truth - Finally the most important thing to remember about Tarot: is that the cards never lie…. Be sure to tell your Reader if there are certain things you are not interested in knowing too; this could be as simple as not wanting to know about upcoming ‘bad news’, such as accidents or death. Or there could be a specific situation/ outcome or person whose energy you’d rather not entertain or know about. Whatever answers you seek, make sure you are ready to hear and accept the truth.

How to Avoid Tarot Scams FAQ

Are Psychics and Tarot Card Readers Real?

The short answer here is; yes! There are definitely real and genuine readers out there who are doing good work and who love what they do. However, just as with anything else, there are those who are faking or taking advantage of good people looking for answers. The trick is to be able to discern the real from the fake. In a world of AI and social media this is most certainly a challenge. And picking the wrong reader can have serious consequences. So read my list of 10 Expert Tips above to help you navigate the world of Psychics, Tarot Readers and Fortune Tellers, before booking a reading with just anyone.

How to Find Genuine Tarot Readers and Psychics?

With the ever growing popularity of spiritual practitioners, it's becoming harder to tell the real from complete frauds. And the true light from false light... However I do believe that if you know yourself and you trust yourself you are one step closer to being able to discern true lightworkers from those that are just pretending. Doing extensive research is crucial in finding professionals such as a good doctor, teacher, plumber, hairdresser and so forth. So why would you not do the same when seeking a professional psychic or reader? Why would you go to the first person you see online, or the first person to offer you a free reading? Read my 10 Expert Tips above, to avoid scams in the spiritual community, in order to find a professional that's right for you.

Are Free Tarot Readings Legit?

Yes and No... this is a tough question. Some readers offer free readings when trying to build up their brand, business or reputation. Which is a good thing. I myself have done this. It helps the reader to gain confidence while they are still learning, and helps the client to get a feel for that reader without the pressure of paying for something they aren't quite sure about. However, it is important to keep in mind, that anytime someone does a reading for you, you are giving them permission to tap into your energy. Which is not always a good thing and can in fact be pretty dangerous. When getting a reading from anyone, you need to be sure that the person conducting the reading has the right intentions. While we can't possibly always know for sure what another's intentions are, we can get a pretty good idea by doing our research before just getting a reading from anyone, even if it is a free one...
